Overhead Squat Assessments: How to Chose and How to Use

Abstract

Many assessments and screening are available to athletic trainers to evaluated a patient’s quality of movement. This presentation will review the different movement screening and focus on the NASM overhead squat assessment along with evaluating step off, vertical, and horizontal jump test from a movement analysis perspective. Solutions to movement disfuntion will be discussed.

Biography

Dr. M. Susan Guyer is the Dean of the College of Physical Education, Performance and Sport Leadership and Professor of the Exercise Science and Athletic Training Department at Springfield College. Dr. Guyer has over 30 years of experience working with college athletes. Dr. Guyer has been an invited speakers on issues related to the prevention of athletic injuries, concussion, and teaching and learning locally, nationally and internationally. She is actively engaged in her professional organizations, having served on state, regional, and national boards. Guyer currently serves on the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) International Committee and Professional Educators Committee. She has received the NATA Service Award, the NATA Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award, and the Gail Weldon Award of Excellence for her service. Guyer has over 70 publications and presentation to her credit.

APATS Leadership

Each APATS coordinator is nominated for two years. The coordinators work together to plan the annual meeting, work on the financial health and stability of APATS and communicate the happenings of APATS athletic trainers throughout Asia.
